About Cortes Island
Cortes Island is the northernmost of the southern Gulf Islands. From Campbell River on Vancouver Island you take a ferry to Quadra Island (15 min) then drive across Quadra to Heriot Bay (15 min) and take the ferry to Cortes Island (45 min). Cortes is best described as remote and rural and its residents are very community-oriented. Today the island is an intriguing mix of old and new. Along with the early settlers and their descendants there are more recent 'settlers', people of all ages and backgrounds who have come here in search of a more independent and casual lifestyle free from many of the troubling complexities of modern existence.

Small Island Lifestyle
Island living offers the chance to enjoy the wonders of nature. Boating, sailing, kayaking, scuba diving, fishing, hiking and horseback riding are some of the many outdoor activities that become part of every day life on the islands. Many people have recreational properties and enjoy these activities on a seasonal basis, others find the lifestyle ideal for retirement or raising a family. Cortes Island has many bays and inlets with good deep water moorage and is a popular stop off point for boaters. Because Cortes is in Vancouver Island's rain shadow, we are blessed with milder, drier weather than some of the surrounding areas.

Personal Background
I have been a year round Cortes Island resident for over 14 years and am very active in the community. One of my favorite past times is exploring the island and I consider myself lucky to be able to do this under the guise of 'work'. I am an avid nature and animal lover and enjoy hiking or horseback riding the many forest trails on the island. Gardening is a favorite topic amongst islanders and I spend many blissful hours in my garden. I love my work as a realtor and because I have chosen to specialize in my community, I am qualified to answer 'island questions' as well as real estate related questions.
